Inflation expected to fall as oil retreats and VAT cut kicks in (Angela Monaghan, Telegraph)

The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) – the Governments preferred measure of inflation – is forecast by economists to fall to 2.7pc from 3.1pc in December. The downturn is ripping pricing power away from companies and it will be the first time that inflation has dropped below 3pc in almost a year.
